Free tech recycling event set June 10 – Brainerd Dispatch
BRAINERD — A free technology recycling event aimed at keeping people safe from fraud and donating technology is set June 10 in Brainerd.
The event, planned rain or shine, is set 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., June 10, at the Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union employee parking lot along Front Street, is for the entire community and is hosted by five area credit unions.
This event provides a safe recycling of tech-related items that could have personal information like phones, computers, tablets and other personal devices. The items collected will be donated to PC’s for People recycling.
Items that are not allowed include TVs, monitors over 32 inches, smart boards, large printers, or copiers. Last year, this event collected four pallets of items, safely recycling 1,718 pounds of computers, laptops, phones, and tablets.
This event is hosted by five local credit unions — Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, Brainerd BN Credit Union, Crow Wing Power Credit Union, Members Cooperative Credit Union, and Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union — through a collaboration known as Financial Fraud Fighters. Together, the credit unions reported, they proactively united in the fight against fraud.
